Having your placenta prepared in YOUR home has multiple benefits. Not only do you have complete control over the safety of the preparation, you know exactly what your own placenta has come into contact with, as it will never leave your sight. Many encapsulators continue to provide in THEIR home encapsulation services. The level of safety in preparing something this precious for consumption in your own space is enormous! To make an informed decision regarding where you'd prefer your placenta encapsulation to occur we must weigh the pros and cons of each environment... Below is a list of pros and cons for both preparation in your own home and off site in an encapsulator's home. This list has been compiled by Doctor Cindy and from the feedback she received while asking her own patients perspectives while at her clinic. In Your Home Pros:- Your partner doesn't need to leave to drop off/pick up your placenta. - You are not subject to airborne viruses contaminating your product from the encapsulators home. -Your TTDS Postpartum Placenta Specialist is an actual Doctor of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM Dr). Placenta preparation originates from chinese medicine! - Our TTDS Postpartum Placenta Specialist is experienced and specializes in fertility, pregnancy and child birth as a TCM Dr. - You eat out of your own kitchen, so you do not have to question cleanliness of work space (this is also sanitized again prior to immediate preparation). - On site support for information and referrals regarding questions you may have as new parents. - You are left with a sparkling clean kitchen!! - There is no risk of your placenta coming into contact with any unknown substances. - You can watch the process being done, as desired. (We encourage you to spend the time resting though). - You do not have to worry about your placenta being mixed up with another client's. - Your placenta doesn't spend any "extra" time in transit between birth place and your home fridge. - You know the exact circumstances under which your placenta has been cared for at the time of birth, and while in transit . - There is no risk of blood borne pathogens or other viruses/bacteria contaminating your finished product. In Your Home Cons:- Having the Postpartum Placenta Specialist in your home, over the course of one day. - The grinder is loud for a couple of minutes. - You are responsible if pets, children or other family members turn off the dehydrator. Off Site Pros: - You do not have to make arrangements to have your placenta prepared in someone else's home if the thought of placenta prep makes you feel squeamish. - You do not have to see your placenta. - It is important that the work space be sanitized with hospital grade sanitizing cleaner... If you only want natural products used in your own home, you don't have to worry about the sanitizing chemicals being in your home. Off Site Cons: - You do not know how your placenta is being treated... Was it in transit for many hours? Did it get place into the fridge promptly upon arrival? Was it properly stored in the fridge next to last night's left overs? Is it being encapsulated at the dinner table with the encapsulators family? - You do not know what type of conditions your placenta is being prepared in... What standards of cleanliness does your encapsulator maintain? Are they accountable to a placenta encapsulation certification program? Do they use the same dehydrator to make their kids fruit leather? Are they using their oven to dehydrate your placenta? (Home ovens cannot be properly sanitized). Do they have pets in their home that walk along the counters? - We do not know of any vehicle insurance company that allows someone else to transport other people's organs without special licenses and insurance. Do they have appropriate coverage in the event of a collision where your placenta is damaged or lost? - There is a risk of your placenta coming into contact with bacteria and viruses that your body is not used to. - Off site encapsulation usually takes 2-3 days to receive the finished poduct. - Someone must be home to receive the finished product. We hope this blog has given you some food for thought. (Haha)!
