Marie believes that birth is a sacred, profound and life-changing event for both the woman and her partner and needs to be protected as such. She believes women inherently and instinctively know their unique and “right” way to give birth, and mother their child. As well, she believes that women are capable of making informed and educated decisions when given the opportunity and resources. It wasn’t until the birth of her first son that she became interested in becoming a Doula. After learning firsthand how little, consistent support there is for the majority of expectant couples, she was determined to make a change. Marie feels incredibly blessed to be able to call this her job, and she looks forward to working with expectant couples for years and years to come! Marie started working as a birth Doula in 2011 and joined Tender Touches Doula Services, as a Managing Partner, in 2014. She has earned a Child Development Assistant Certificate and is currently finishing up her Psychology BA through MRU, and Childbirth Educator certificate through Birth Arts International. She has also been fortunate enough to take part in several continuing education opportunities like Gena Kirby’s rebozo workshop. Currently, Marie lives in Calgary with her husband, their two sons, and fish, Moe! She feels so lucky to have such a supportive partner who has always been behind her and two wonderful boys who have led her to her true passion in life.
